This month’s affiliate income was 48 yen. Good. The click-through rate (CTR) relative to page views is as high as 21%.

Views are back to ordinary days. Maybe it is caused by I did not leave any posts for Japanese. I did not motivate for them because most Japanese had no reaction, whether they are always considerate.

So I spend my days only with my contributors (^_^;.

Japan doesn’t really matter for me now (^_^)/.

I’m willing to the access from Australia. There is also access from Benelux countries. Actually, there is an access from France, but these countries decline the rank of search when the site would display ads before consent, so I cannot expect the growth. I’m only looking forward to Australia’s.

In a free plan, CookieYes does not block ads before consent, that is offered by Script Blocker in the paid plans, so there is no way to block them. As the lowest-priced plan is 10 dollars per month, I have to earn 1,500 yen at least. It means I have to get 15,000 views around. CTR is said to be 10% around.

I’ll pass on (^_^;.

Wordfence configured Passkey login

Excellent. Wordfence 9.0 has been upgraded with including passkey, with enough to announcements. A must-have plugin for all WordPress users is. We can create a completely passwordless environment.

Passkey option has been added to Login Security’s Settings. “Passkey Roles” is. Let you set Administrator to ‘Optional’, then click the Passkeys tab to install the passkeys.

Above image is when I will set a passkey with my Microsoft account. You can easily set it up by following the navigation. If you would set it up for the first time, be sure to back up the security code. Keep in mind that this code is diffrent from the setup code. In Windows, the setup code is Windows Hello that is facial recognition or PIN input. Even if you forget this authentication code, you can still set up a passkey. You would get stuck someday (^_^;。

When you log-out then log-in again, you’ll see both a passkey and a usual login screen. As it is, there are two ways to log-in. When you uncheck “Allow username/password authentication” in the Passkeys tab, no longer support ID/password log-in (right image). It becomes a completely passwordless environment.

As Passkey needs to set for each device, so let you link the passkey to your mobiles.

From smartphone, access the WordPress dashboard.

Aaahh!!

I was rejected by Wordfence. The page is hard to read, not responsive. . .

But I carefully read it and sent email that Wordfence says, I could go to the passkey tab. Then added a passkey with the above method, I can access from my smartphone, too. It seems better not to uncheck “Allow username/password authentication” from the start (^_^;.
Everyone, after setting a passkey to your mobiles first, let you uncheck it.

The passwordless environment is complete, if you can set it like below.

Brute force attacks are no longer fear (^_^)/.

However, the 2FA is still active. I think it better to disable “2FA Roles”. When you will set Passkey Roles to “Required”, 2FA Roles is disabled. But “XML-RPC call authentication” is also disabled, the plugin which uses it like Jetpack might cause something wrong in case. I am under the research now. Because “XML-RPC call” is a common target for hackers, so if you don’t use Jetpack or similar, let you set Passkey Roles to “Required” to improve security.

I can create a great passwordless environment. I thought I would rewrite the Wordfence pages, however, I am not sure how the passkeys would co-work with 2FA, I will wait a bit. Maybe a 2FA screen will appear, but how’s work?

If XML-RPC call event would occur in some way, it is better to set 2FA Roles for security.

Anyway, let you do this at least.

If you don’t do this, the login screen appears quite often. It’s not passwordless.

MichiroJohn visits his family’s gravestone

In this Summer, I also visited my family’s gravestone. It is a traditional Japanese culture doing in Obon (お盆). It is the ancestor worship.

I am very free (^_^;, so I cleaned the grave up.

“Do not enter after drinking” said in the entrance

After a brief conversation with the temple priest, I polished the gravestone. I knew it but it was first time to watch my family crest (Kamon). It is “Three oak leaves in a circle” (right image). I heard we had a family tree dating back to the Edo period (17-19c), so this crest was probably received at that time. But my family was not samurai, just farmers, so it is a common crest even farmers could be received. Moreover, my family itself is a subfamily of Gentry (Shōya) did, I grew up in a house without a storehouse. I heard the main family went bankrupt at my great-grandfather’s time. He spent too much money on women.

What the heck?! (^_^;。

Explore the historical sites even locals do not know

While cleaning the gravestone, I am on mind about my family, so I decided to go to trace my clan’s history. I am so free (^_^)/.

There used to be a Sugawara Shrine on this hill, which had existed recently. According to our folklore, Sugawara no Michizane, who was exiled to Dazaifu, took a short break here. Just on this event, this shrine was built. What an incredible power, who is The God of Study had. It was a typical expression of Japanese ancestor worship that just a human is dealt as same as the god. In the middle of Sengoku period (16c), my ancestors had lived at the foot of this hill, and served as guides for the Mōri Motonari army that came to subdue the Ōuchi region.

My ancestors were traitor (^_^;。

But the Ōuchi samurais who had kept a nearby castle were all dead by battle, maybe our ancestors had no choice to do so. They were accompanying the Mōri army as the representative. This story is even locals know.

To tell the truth, my father was a historian (specializing in Yayoi period) and also compiled local history. He had many stories and speculations that even locals do not know. From here, I will tell you my clan’s history with some speculation.

My ancestors would appear first in literature at the late Kamakura period (13c). Their names were among those who opposed the debt amnesty decree by Kamakura shogunate. Looking at the names listed there, they were almost my relatives. Maybe met chemical.

According to my father, “The road stretches toward the powerful local figures” —— The image above shows the road stretching straight toward my main family’s house did. The road tells a history. By the way, the road across further is the old Sanyō road.

The road in front of the main house did (Old Sanyō Road)

There is an easy path where people have built and built over many years.

My father had believed there is a ruin at the main family’s residence, so he decided to dig the ground during its renovation, but nothing came up. Father said, “This old Sanyō Road was maintained during the Edo period and that differed a bit from the route Sugawara-no-Michizane traveled, so it is understandable not to be unearthed.” Father tried to dig up the foot of Sugawara Shrine, but no neither. Excavating ruins is quite a backbreaking work.

My father had a unique intuition, maybe because his junior high school stood on a keyhole-shaped burial mound (Chōtokujiyama Kofun). Father said, “Where people live now, where easy to live for the past people. Where people gather now, where the past people also gathered.” —— Once I helped my father’s archaeological excavations, from there, unearthed many items, that were a Jōmon period stone axe and the mortars in the Muromachi period. Father said, “This stone has tool marks at this point. This carving method supposed to be done by Jōmon people. This carving method on these sherds are often seen in Muromachi period. They used it for mortar. The other sherds are probably from Yayoi period, but these are too small to have the reference value, throw them away. . .”

As this logic, my father ransacked the grounds of nearby schools and government offices which were being rebuilt, finally discovered the remains of local powerful clan’s residence did. It was located under the town office.

He was an amazing person.

My father had many achievements, but I believe his greatest achievement is his study about hill town (高地性集落) in Yayoi period.

It is close to my parents’ house, so go will I.

Scenery around the Iwagari archaeological site

Yayoi-style pottery was discovered during residential development, after the discussion, my father was chosen to excavate. One thing my father wondered was —— there was the inside of river curve, not a floodplain, why Yayoi people had lived on such a hill? —— Yayoi people had lived at the location of “Here”.
Therefore, my father envisioned the Yayoi people dwelled on the world same as ancient Greek city-states were competing, then presented this new theory to the academic society. Father told it sparked the intense debates, although he could not prove any conflict between police states, the idea of “hill town” still remains. He succeeded in casting a doubt on the image of “Yayoi period is peaceful agricultural society”. Father said, “Immigrants from continent (China or Korea) didn’t just flee from war or migrate peacefully. They always conflicted with domestic people. We can often find the burnt marks on the ground.” —— Yayoi period synchronized with the age of China unified to one, Father assumed that many refugees became as like viking. But he was died without proving it. It will depend on the next generation.

Iwagari archaeological site now. It stands higher than others.

I remember my father was usually a bit strange.

While Father was working as a school teacher, continued his own study all along. He didn’t care about home so much. He was kinds of Dr. Strangelove. I believe there was a scene only the strange could see. My mother was supporting such a man and died with him.

I want to live a life like him, too.

End.
